The Ultrabook is set to “reinvigorate the PC”, according to one of the interviewees in this video from the first Ultrabook Symposium. You’re probably aware of the Ultrabook concept, which makes high performance computing portable with ultra-light devices that have high quality keyboards and screens. The near instant-on and the upcoming incorporation of sensors will bring a lot of smartphone and tablet usage models to keyboard-based computing, and the new device creates lots of opportunities for developers to invent new usage models and create new apps. This short video was shot at the first Ultrabook Symposium, and it includes some nifty demonstrations, such as trying on virtual glasses (my favourite!) using a front-facing camera, and doing motion detection using the device camera. Have you tried an Ultrabook yet? What do you think of the concept?
